Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn\u2019t ready to let go of Micah Parsons, even after the pass rusher shared a letter on social media asking for a trade. Last weekend, Jones spoke to the press and downplayed Parsons\u2019 trade request, saying it\u2019s just part of the negotiation process.<\/p>\n

As a result, this contract standoff story is far from over, and there’s no shortage of takes coming from NFL insiders on how this entire saga will play out with Week 1 approaching.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, SI\u2019s Albert Breer appeared on “The Rich Eisen Show”<\/a> and shared that he sees the Cowboys and Parsons working out a contract extension, but it won\u2019t come until the final moments leading up to the start of the regular season.<\/p>\n

“I think this gets done the week before the season,” Breer told Eisen. “I think it’s probably $45 million per year. I think everybody walks away from this happy. Now, I think the question becomes: Does it affect his season?<\/p>\n

“We saw what happened with CeeDee [Lamb] last year \u2014 which, how long did it take before he pulled a hamstring? It was a couple of weeks in, right? I think the question is: are you putting at risk his season by not putting him out there?”<\/p>\n

Parsons is in training camp and helping out teammates, but at some point the situation has to give and a solution needs to be given. Jones believes that the two sides will get a deal done, which is why he kind of dismissed the trade request.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the Cowboys have gotten deals over the line with key players like Lamb and Dak Prescott, albeit both situations were dragged out. If the Cowboys don\u2019t have Parsons for their Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 4, this contract standoff could take a twist in the drama.<\/p>\n
