{"id":492147,"date":"2026-02-22T14:14:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T14:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/492147\/"},"modified":"2026-02-22T14:14:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T14:14:07","slug":"ex-heavyweight-champ-hasim-rahman-delivers-ko-verdict-for-wilder-vs-chisora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/492147\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Heavyweight Champ Hasim Rahman delivers KO verdict for Wilder vs Chisora"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former unified heavyweight world champion Hasim Rahman has looked ahead to April\u2019s veteran showdown between <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/derek-chisora\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Derek Chisora<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/deontay-wilder\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deontay Wilder<\/a>, predicting that the contest will end by knockout.<\/p>\n<p>Chisora was advised to retire by fighters and fans when he came up short in a second challenge for the heavyweight throne against Tyson Fury, back in December 2022. However, the beloved big man has continued to fight on and has surprisingly strung together three straight victories since.<\/p>\n<p>Although, Chisora has promised that his next outing will be his last, as he reaches fight number 50 in his professional career, bowing out on home soil against former WBC champion Wilder, who will also achieve the same landmark half-century bout in the contest.<\/p>\n<p>At ages of 43 and 40 respectively, some have criticised whether Chisora and Wilder should still be fighting, but Rahman told <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/4NqAJo6De14?si=x-i5izaxp9EdiMjw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FightHype<\/a> that he believes the clash is fair game, because of their similar ages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way that I look at it is this, if you are talking about one of them fighting somebody significant younger than them, then there might be an issue, it might be something to talk about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, you are talking about both of them, the playing field is even, so it\u2019s OK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt washes out, it evens itself out, both of them are in the same boat, so what is the difference? Ain\u2019t no advantage, either way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When discussing the scrap itself, \u2018The Rock\u2019, who <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/features\/on-this-day-lennox-lewis-suffered-a-stunning-upset\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">famously knocked out Lennox Lewis to become the heavyweight champion in 2001<\/a>, forecasted that the outcome of the fight will hinge on how much Wilder has declined, but that the judges will not be needed either way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that, if Deontay has anything left, he should win the fight by knockout.
