BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A nonprofit is hosting an event to raise awareness about mental health and bring hope to people facing mental health challenges.<\/p>\n
The Rain Will Bring Flowers Foundation will hold the 3rd Annual Planting Seeds of Hope gathering at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on LSU\u2019s campus. The event is set for Tuesday, February 24, at 6 p.m. Organizers said doors to the arena will open at 5 p.m., which is also when all parking lots on campus will be available to the public.<\/p>\n
Organizers said they want to bring people together for a dialogue about connection and support around mental health and suicide prevention.<\/p>\n
Attendees can expect to see and hear from ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, American Idol finalist John Foster, NFL player Clyde Edwards-Helaire, former LSU Tiger Ronnie Rantz, and U.S. Army Veteran Sgt. Rick Yarosh.<\/p>\n
Jordan and Lisa Tabor founded the Rain Will Bring Flowers Foundation in 2023 following the loss of their son, Owen Tabor, to suicide. Since then, the Tabors have worked to do everything they can to prevent another tragedy from taking place.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a 15-year-old boy that was smart and popular and never bullied. Came from a really good faith-based family. Had all the resources at his fingertips,\u201d Lisa Tabor said. \u201cWe say that if Owen was a victim of suicide, then all of our youth is at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Tabors said part of their mission involves making sure no one feels alone.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur community families need to know that everybody\u2019s struggling, and it\u2019s okay not to be okay,\u201d Jordan Tabor explained. \u201cBut you don\u2019t have to struggle in silence.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Rain Will Bring Flowers Foundation partnered with LSU, the Joe Burrow Foundation, and FMOL Health to make the 3rd Annual Planting Seeds of Hope event a reality. The Tabor\u2019s said they\u2019re grateful for the support they\u2019ve received in their efforts to reach those in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing, and it\u2019s a community effort,\u201d Jordan Tabor explained. \u201cIt definitely takes a village. I\u2019m so thankful for that partnership because we just want to put as many butts in the seats to hear the critical message.\u201d<\/p>\n
