Conor Benn has spoken out following his split from Matchroom and Eddie Hearn in favor of Dana White and Zuffa Boxing.<\/p>\n
Benn stunned the boxing world when he inked a deal<\/a> with Hearn\u2019s new competitor. He had been under Hearn\u2019s promotion for a decade. Dan Rafael later reported that Benn is signed to Zuffa Boxing for one fight and the deal is worth $15 million.<\/p>\n The stunning move led some to question Benn\u2019s loyalty, but others don\u2019t believe loyalty is owed in the sport of boxing. Amid the highly debated decision, Benn told Boxing King Media<\/a> that the offer from Zuffa Boxing simply couldn\u2019t be topped (via Boxing Scene<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t an easy decision,\u201d he told Boxing King Media. \u201cIt was a decision that weighed heavy on me. But it was the best decision for me and my family, and ultimately an offer I couldn\u2019t turn down.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m doing this for my family. It\u2019s an offer that you\u2019d be mentally ill to turn down. I\u2019m blessed to be in the position I\u2019m in. I\u2019m happy to be in the position I\u2019m in. My career\u2019s again taken another turn; a direction I didn\u2019t think it would. But I want to maintain my relationship with Matchroom, specifically Eddie Hearn; Frank Smith.<\/p>\n Benn said that he ultimately made the move that he felt was best for his family. He also said that a decade from now, no one will care about his well being. Benn also expressed his belief that promoters view him as \u201chot property.\u201d He then insisted that he was loyal to Hearn, but family rules all.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything they\u2019ve done for me, I\u2019ll forever be grateful, but not over my blood family,\u201d Benn said.<\/p>\n Chris Mannix reported that the plan is for Benn\u2019s next fight to take place no later than May 31.
