Robberies with guns continue to target Mississauga and Brampton residents.<\/p>\n

From Jan. 22 to Feb. 22, police data indicates that a combined 51 robberies were reported across both cities, with\u00a0 23 cases in Mississuaga, 27 in Brampton, and one incident in Toronto fell under Peel police jurisdication.<\/p>\n

Fifteen of the robberies were carried out with guns, 14 with other weapons, two were\u00a0 purse snatches and 20 were listed simply as \u201cother\u201d by police.<\/p>\n

As of Sunday 10 of these incidents are considered solved, 39 are still under investigation and two remain unsolved.<\/p>\n

According to Peel Regional Police data, the four most common hotspots for this type of crime this month were:<\/p>\n

Kennedy Road \u2014two occurrences
\nMain Street\u2014two occurrences
\nEarnscliffe Circle\u2014two occurrences
\nNorth Park \u2014two occurrences<\/p>\n

Additionally, police data doesn\u2019t indicate how many arrests were made or injuries reported in relation to these robberies.<\/p>\n

Peel Regional Police continue to share helpful safety tips for residents and businesses:<\/p>\n

Ensure you have a properly working surveillance system.
\nEnsure you have proper lighting inside and outside your premises, and remember to maintain them.
\nProvide all staff with robbery prevention training.
\nReduce the amount of cash on hand by making frequent cash drops.
\nHave low shelving to improve the view of customers.
\nPlace your shelves in a way that allows employees to see between the aisles from the sales counter.
\nRemove all excessive window signage or clutter from the sales area and other critical lines of sight.
\nIf a robbery happens, victims are advised to contact police immediately.<\/p>\n
