Pawleys Island, SC –\u00a0The La Salle University women’s golf team opened its spring schedule this weekend at the Battle at the Beach, competing at the picturesque Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club. Facing a strong field, the Explorers placed 12th overall after 36 holes.<\/p>\n
La Salle ended the tournament with a team score of 691, finishing 115 strokes over par. The Explorers were led by freshman\u00a0Jewel Schaefer<\/a>, who posted rounds of 85 and 84 to finish 45th at 25 over par. Senior\u00a0Sydnie Leavery<\/a>\u00a0delivered a strong second round with an 82, moving her into a tie for 49th at 27 over.<\/p>\n Sophomore\u00a0Samantha Song<\/a>\u00a0contributed with an 85 in her opening round and closed the event at 33 over par, while senior\u00a0Nina Okenkova<\/a>\u00a0recorded rounds of 92 and 87 for a two-day total of 179. Senior\u00a0Hannah Gammons<\/a>\u00a0rounded out the lineup, finishing at 41 over par. The tournament served as a valuable learning experience for the group, providing opportunities to compete under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions on a notable course.<\/p>\n The Explorers will return to action in over a month when the team travels to Grasonville, MD to participate in the JEL Intercollegiate for a third consecutive season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
