It was quite a year for Rory McIlroy and the star credits his wife Erica Stoll for his recent success. Back in December 2025, McIlroy was named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. <\/p>\n
While McIlroy\u2019s wife was not in attendance for the award show, the star golfer labeled Stoll and the couple\u2019s daughter Poppy as \u201cmy rock.\u201d<\/p>\n

McIlroy and Stoll were subjected to unsavory remarks from patrons at the event. <\/p>\n A viral video showed one fan throwing a beer that hit McIlroy\u2019s wife during the tournament. Prior to things getting testy, McIlroy praised the United States, celebrating both his Irish and American roots.<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone wanted to make it in America,\u201d McIlroy explained to reporters<\/a> on September 25, 2025. \u201cIt\u2019s the land of opportunity.
