Sebastian Korda had the perfect response to a hilarious on-court interview gaffe as he reached the final in Delray Beach over the weekend. The world No. 40 took out third seed Flavio Cobolli in the semi-finals, winning a close first set before running away with it to clinch a 7-6(1) 6-1 victory. Korda now has an undefeated 3-0 record against the Italian, having also beaten him in the 2024 Washington Open final and the Italian Open earlier that year.<\/p>\n
And the American was asked about his great record against Cobolli, but things didn\u2019t quite go to plan. It\u2019s not uncommon to suffer a slip of the tongue and say the wrong word, and that happened to Michelle Yu as she spoke to Korda in front of the centre court crowd in Delray Beach \u2013 and viewers watching at home on live TV.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve played Flavio three times and you\u2019ve had sex \u2013 success against him all three times. Why is it that you have had such success against him?\u201d she asked, trying to hold back the laughter as Korda grinned.<\/p>\n

Click here to activate<\/a> or add us as a Preferred Source in your Google search settings. <\/p>\n And the former world No. 15 doubled down on Yu\u2019s slip-up as he jokingly replied: \u201cHe\u2019s a good-looking guy, so, you know!\u201d Korda then came up against another familiar face in the final, Tommy Paul.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old defeated the No. 5 seed 6-4 6-3 to get his hands on his third tour-level title, and his first since the 2024 Washington Open. It\u2019s been a difficult few months for Korda, who was left on crutches when he skipped the 2025 French Open. He also retired injured at his home Grand Slam, the US Open, last summer, and has since struggled to rediscover his best tennis.<\/p>\n But Korda has been on a roll in recent weeks, finishing runner-up at the San Diego Challenger before reaching the Dallas quarter-finals, and now being crowned the Delray Beach Open champion.<\/p>\n Sebastian Korda was crowned the Delray Beach Open champion (Image: Getty)<\/p>\n \u201c[It means] a lot. I\u2019ve been through some stuff the past couple of months, years. I\u2019ve lost a lot of finals and now to get one here in Delray \u2013 this is where I made my first ATP final \u2013 so it\u2019s like a full-circle day. I\u2019m just happy,\u201d he said after lifting his third title.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was tricky. We were both struggling out there, it was super windy. I was just trying to put the ball in the court. I was born and raised in Florida, so I\u2019m used to the wind a little bit, but this was extreme for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n The world No. 40 recently enlisted retired ATP star, Ryan Harrison, in his coaching camp \u2013 and they\u2019ve enjoyed instant success. Harrison is also a successful pundit and commentator, and often works for Sky Sports in the UK.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery day is just such good energy. He couldn\u2019t care less if I\u2019m playing good or bad, just a good attitude, that\u2019s what he\u2019s asked for.
