{"id":494201,"date":"2026-02-23T13:55:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T13:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/494201\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T13:55:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T13:55:13","slug":"chelmsford-dab-launches-on-historic-date-radiotoday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/494201\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelmsford DAB launches on historic date \u2013 RadioToday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a itemprop=\"url\" class=\"kdafxujcge-link\" href=\"https:\/\/todayl.ink\/aiirjune\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"kdafxujcge-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1767631029_504_RTUKPackageDeal1webp.webp.webp\" alt=\"Aiir June 2\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chelmsford\u2019s new small-scale DAB multiplex is now on air, expanding local digital radio choice across the city.<\/p>\n<p>Chelmsford Digital Radio officially launched on 14 February, marking 104 years since 2MT Writtle began regular entertainment broadcasts in 1922.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor highlighted the city\u2019s role in the origins of wireless communication, referencing Guglielmo Marconi\u2019s work in Chelmsford and the area\u2019s long broadcasting heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Steers, Founder of Chelmsford Digital Radio, said: \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to build on Chelmsford\u2019s incredible broadcasting legacy. Small-scale DAB gives local, independent, and community stations the ability to flourish and be heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca added that the multiplex would help local voices reach listeners across the city and continue Chelmsford\u2019s tradition of innovation in radio.<\/p>\n<p>The launch event was hosted at City Sound, which also began broadcasting on DAB as part of the multiplex.
