One person has died after an overnight fatal crash in South Surrey in a water-filled ditch.<\/p>\n
Surrey Police Service is investigating the single-vehicle collision which happened at 9:37 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 22) on 168 Street north of 40 Avenue.<\/p>\n
Surrey Fire Service firefighters were able to remove the driver \u2014 a man in his 20s and the lone occupant of the car \u2014 and they, along with BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, administered life-saving measures.<\/p>\n
Sadly, the driver later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, an SPS release said.<\/p>\n
At this early stage, the cause remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
Surrey Police Service is asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have been driving in the area of 168 Street and 40 Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 22) and has dashcam footage, to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-17735 (SP).<\/p>\n
This is the fourth fatal collision in Surrey since Feb. 12,<\/a> and the sixth fatal pedestrian collision since December, with two crashes involving SPS vehicles<\/a> that killed two female pedestrians in <\/a>December<\/a>.<\/p>\n
