Edmonton is set to resume its schedule on Wednesday as they open up a three-game California road trip against the Anaheim Ducks.

They will be doing so with a few changes to the lineup, however, as the extended break has shifted some injury timetables. Head coach Kris Knoblauch gave an update on a few players on Sunday.

“Adam [Henrique] is doing really well, and I believe he’ll be ready to play our first game,” Knoblauch said. “[Kapanen has] a little ailment, a different injury, and not sure he’ll be ready for the first two games; it might be later in the week.”

“I thought they were really focused, I thought they worked really hard.”

Coach Knoblauch recaps the #Oilers practice week as they prepare to return to game action.@Enterprise | #LetsGoOilers pic.twitter.com/vlLfGL8Dss

— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) February 22, 2026

Adam Henrique is set to return against his former team after missing the last 15 games with an undisclosed lower-body injury. He was placed on the LTIR on Jan. 13 and hasn’t played since a 6-2 victory over the Nashville Predators in early January.

The 36-year-old is in the midst of a disappointing season with the Oilers, posting just two goals and 10 points through 43 games. Henrique is on pace for just 19 points this season, which would be his worst in over a decade.

Kasperi Kapenen, on the other hand, can’t seem to catch a break this season. The Finnish forward is expected to miss at least the first two post-Olympic break games with another undisclosed injury. This will be the third separate time that Kapanen has missed NHL games with an injury.

It’s a shame, as the 29-year-old has actually been quite good when he’s healthy. Kapanen has been riding shotgun with Leon Draisaitl on the Oilers’ second line and has five goals and 12 points in just 17 games this season.

Connor McDavid appeared to be nursing some sort of injury at the Olympics, but no official update on his status has been provided. There is a chance that the Oilers opt to sit McDavid for a few games just to give him some more days of rest after a strenuous Olympic tournament.

So far, that decision has not been made public.

The heartbreak of the Olympics is over, and the Edmonton Oilers are prepping to get back to work.…

[194294
49,48,23752
0":"post-494704","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-edmonton","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-edmonton
["GET
