Local MPs, MLAs, and mayor to attend \u2018State of East Surrey\u2019 Q&A<\/p>\n

Representatives from all three levels of government will be in Cloverdale in March to address the \u201cState of East Surrey.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hosted by the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce, politicians will answer pre-submitted questions on a wide range of topics\u2014from public safety and transit to international trade and healthcare\u2014as they relate to residents that live in Campbell Heights Cloverdale and Clayton Heights. The public Q&A will be held March 18.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a dialogue\u2014a question and answer session,\u201d said Scott Wheatley, executive director of the Cloverdale Chamber. \u201cIt\u2019s not meant to be confrontational. It won\u2019t follow a debate format as it\u2019s meant to inform the public on issues that are on the minds of residents of East Surrey.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wheatley said so far MPs Tamara Jansen and Ernie Klassen will attend, along with MLA\u2019s Linda Hepner and Elenore Sturko, and Mayor Brenda Locke. MLA Brent Chapman has not yet responded to requests to attend.<\/p>\n
He added KPU\u2019s Harbir Dhillon will be the moderator.<\/p>\n
Wheatley explained the State of East Surrey session will be \u201cvery informative\u201d for attendees as they\u2019ll be able to hear directly from decision makers. He said citizens will be able to gain insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last time we did something like this, it was really well received,\u201d Wheatley added. \u201cThis will be good practice for us ahead of the civic election this fall as we\u2019ll be doing all-candidate meetings for the election.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wheatley said the location for the event is still TBD, but it will be in Cloverdale.<\/p>\n
The State of East Surrey Q&A will take place Wednesday March 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. for registration.<\/p>\n
