Coming close to 49mn accesses at the end of June, Brazil has seen its 5G base continuing to grow steadily as customers replace phones and migrate to 5G-ready devices.<\/p>\n

June, in particular, marked the technology’s best-performing month in the year, with 1.7mn 5G accesses added and sound growth at all three of the country’s main mobile operators, new statistics from regulator Anatel\u00a0demonstrate.<\/p>\n

In fixed broadband, although fiber accesses declined in the month, according to preliminary data \u2013 which tends to be revised upwards \u2013 the fiber base expanded 8% year-on-year to June and 1.6% during the first half. It is now at 41.2mn connections.<\/p>\n

Fiber growth continues to be driven partly by ISPs with a renewed push in recent months by the two leading incumbent telcos.<\/p>\n

When taking into account all broadband means of access, such as satellite, Starlink\u00a0stands out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In June, for example, the company was the third player adding most broadband accesses in the country.<\/p>\n

5G, IoT and more<\/p>\n

Telef\u00f4nica Brasil (Vivo) continues to lead in 5G accesses, with 19.7mn or 40.4% of the total. It is followed by Claro\u00a0(16.9mn) and TIM\u00a0(11.8mn).<\/p>\n

Considering all technologies and types of access, Brazil’s mobile base was 266mn at the end of June, with Vivo accounting for 38.5%, Claro for 33.2% and TIM for 23.4%.<\/p>\n

Anatel data shows 151,000 net additions in June, the lowest for a month in 2025. The figures include handset lines as well as IoT and M2M connections.<\/p>\n

Among disconnections and new accesses, Vivo had net additions of 14,035 in the month, whereas TIM’s declined by 61,202 and Claro’s by 66,216.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, in 5G specifically, all three grew. Claro received the most new subscribers, with 875,000 5G accesses in the month. Next came Vivo (567,000) and TIM (248,000).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the new entrants, regional carriers or ISPs with regional mobile licenses, Algar\u00a0was the main highlight, leading in net additions in June. Positive mobile results were also seen by Brisanet, Unifique\u00a0and Vero.<\/p>\n

SpaceX’s Starlink continues to lead in fixed broadband.<\/p>\n

Based on Anatel’s June data, the company appears to have surpassed 400,000 Brazilian accesses.<\/p>\n

In the 12 months to June, its growth was 85.5%, and 3.7% in June alone. The company’s largest base is in the north, with 127,630 connections.<\/p>\n

Currently the 14th largest broadband provider in Brazil in accesses, the firm only trailed Vivo and Claro in net additions of customers in the month.<\/p>\n

Vivo grew by 62,000 accesses, Claro by 26,000 and Starlink by 14,300.<\/p>\n

TIM, which continues to evaluate what to do with its fixed operation, reported an increase of just under 2,000 customers in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the largest ISPs, Alloha\u00a0(Giga mais Fibra) declined by 0.8% while Brisanet grew by 0.3%.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The other results were Vero -0.1%, Desktop\u00a0+0.3%, Brasil TecPar +0.1%, Algar remained flat and Unifique +0.3%.<\/p>\n

According to Anatel’s data, small ISPs and other providers without a nationwide footprint had a combined 43.3% share of the fiber broadband market and 39% of the total fixed broadband market at end-June.<\/p>\n
