Delays and closures continue across P.E.I. Tuesday morning after significant snowfall, strong winds and blowing snow hit the Island overnight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Weather-related closures began Monday afternoon as the storm began. <\/p>\n

Environment Canada had issued yellow weather warnings across the province \u2014 a snowfall warning for Kings County and winter storm warnings for Prince and Queens counties \u2014 but the alerts ended just after 10 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin said winds were expected to slowly subside into the afternoon as snow tapers off.<\/p>\n

“The system is on the way out, so we’ve endured the heaviest part of this system,” Simpkin said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another system is expected to bring light snow to the Island Wednesday evening into Thursday, but “it’s not going to be anywhere near the system that we just endured,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ClosuresP.E.I.’s French and English schools are closed for the day.\u00a0Island Montessori Academy Stratford and Cornwall are closed.All Holland College campuses are closed.\u00a0UPEI\u2019s Charlottetown and St. Peter\u2019s Bay campuses are closed for the day. The AVC Veterinary Teaching Hospital will remain open for emergencies.The Community Supports Program is not operating today.Health P.E.I. delays and closures are listed on the provincial health agency’s health storm centre page<\/a>.\u00a0All Island Waste Management collections across the province have been cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28. All T3 rural transit buses are cancelled for the day. Provincial civil service offices in the West Prince, East Prince, Queens and Charlottetown areas are closed for the day. Charlottetown City Hall and its administrative offices are closed for the day.Provincial Credit Union branches in Evangeline, O’Leary, Alberton, and Tignish are closed for the day.
