A calf moose in the wilderness.<\/p>\n

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources says a man has been fined $1,500 for moose hunting violations.<\/p>\n

Bronislaw Dul of Mississauga pleaded guilty to hunting a calf moose without a licence and was given the fine.<\/p>\n

According to information recently released by the ministry, in October of 2024, Dul was hunting for moose with a hunting party near the town of Huntsville, 230 km north of Mississauga.<\/p>\n

\u201cA member of his hunting party harvested a calf moose that morning despite Dul not having claimed or purchased his calf licence,\u201d the ministry states in a published release. \u201cTo cover up the unlawfully harvested calf, Dul travelled to a licence issuer and purchased his unclaimed calf tag after the fact. The tag was then invalidated for a time after the tag purchase.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlawfully harvesting a calf moose means killing a moose less than one year old in violation of provincial wildlife regulations.<\/p>\n

Justice of the Peace Carolyn A. Noordegraaf heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Bracebridge, in November of last year and handed down the fine.<\/p>\n
