One of the most entertaining and self-aware entries in horror history is returning to the big screen. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) will celebrate its 40th anniversary in Sault Ste. Marie with a special one-night-only screening presented by The Reel Film Forum on Friday, March 13 at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre’s Ranger Theatre.

Released in 1986, Jason Lives marked a bold and revitalizing shift for the long-running franchise. Blending gothic atmosphere, sharp humour, and explosive 80s energy, director Tom McLoughlin reimagined the hockey-masked killer with a wink to the audience without sacrificing the thrills.

The film follows Tommy Jarvis, determined to ensure Jason Voorhees remains buried for good. But when a lightning strike resurrects the infamous slasher, Camp Crystal Lake becomes a hunting ground once again. What unfolds is a stylish, fast-paced horror film widely regarded as one of the franchise’s most purely entertaining chapters.

“Every long-running series has a turning point,” said Keith Brown of The Reel Film Forum. “For Friday the 13th, this was it. Jason Lives is the first film that fully embraced Jason as something supernatural, and that shift gave the franchise a bigger, bolder identity that still resonates with fans today.”

The screening will feature a special surprise video intro, along with a door prize raffle for attendees. Drinks, snacks, and bar service will be available on site. The Reel Film Forum invites horror fans, franchise devotees, and anyone looking for a killer night out to celebrate 40 years of Jason Lives on the big screen. What better night to see Jason Lives than on an actual Friday the 13th?

Horror fans invited to celebrate king of the slashers with raffle and surprise intro at local screening What’s…

[27
49,48,75,199320,337
post-497613","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-movies","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-entertainment","tag-jason-voorheesthe-reel-film-forumcanadian-bushplanefriday-the-13th-part-vi-jason-livesmarch-13","tag-movies
["GET
