The North Carolina Central women’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision Tuesday afternoon, battling No. 3 North Carolina at the Chewning Tennis Center.<\/p>\n
NCCU (1-4) faced its third nationally ranked opponent of the season, as UNC entered the match at 12-1 overall. The Eagles competed hard in doubles play, but the Tar Heels carried a 1-0 lead into singles.<\/p>\n
Alejandra Hidalgo Vega<\/a> faced the nation’s sixth-ranked player, Oby Kajuru. The senior held her own in a competitive first set before falling 6-4. Kajuru secured the match with a 6-2 second set.<\/p>\n Valeria San Miguel Soria<\/a> and Patricia Palencia<\/a> also battled ranked opponents, but UNC claimed the remaining singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep.<\/p>\n The Eagles will look to bounce back Friday, Feb. 27 at Cary Tennis Park.
