Alberta\u2019s police watchdog is investigating after a man died while being arrested by Edmonton police on Saturday.<\/p>\n
At roughly 8 a.m. on Feb. 21, officers responded to a report of an assault at a multi-unit shared living facility in the area of 129 Avenue and 119 Street, said police in a Monday news release.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found a man, who witnesses said appeared to be incoherent and intoxicated. Police tried to arrest the man, but he resisted, and during the arrest the man went into medical distress.<\/p>\n

Officers called emergency medical services, and immediately attempted CPR. The man was taken to hospital, but later died.<\/p>\n
EPS brought in the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) to conduct an investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n
