Residents of the Berea Gardens are sleeping more comfortably on new mattresses after a workout on an exercise bicycle or rowing machine and watching some television, thanks to the golfers who participated in the annual Algoa FM Charity Golf Day.<\/p>\n
Founded in 1974, Berea Gardens provides a home for SASSA pensioners who survive on R2\u00a0180 \/ month.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of my subsidised rental accommodation SASSA pensioners said after the bed was delivered that it was the best gift she had ever received in her entire life as the tears rolled down her cheeks,\u201d says Berea Gardens\u2019 Claire Neithercut.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother said, \u2018I just want to say a very big thank you for my lovely bed. My back pain is so much better after only one night’s sleep. I have no words to express my gratitude.<\/p>\n
