World’s Best Hospitals ranking<\/a>, compiled by Newsweek and Statista, evaluated over 2,500 hospitals across 30 countries. Scores were based on recommendations from medical experts, hospital quality metrics and patient experience data.<\/p>\nThere are almost 216,000 hospitals worldwide, according to Statista, so it’s a proud acheivement for one of Canada’s largest research and teaching hospitals to receive this kind of recognition.<\/p>\n
“This moment brings pride and a responsibility to continue advancing what health care can achieve for patients in Canada and globally,” says Dean Connor, Chair of the Board of Directors at UHN.<\/p>\n
This also marks the eighth consecutive year that UHN has been named the world\u2019s most universally accessible hospital.<\/p>\n

Mayo Clinic – Rochester (U.S.)
\nUniversity Health Network – Toronto General Hospital (Canada)
\nCleveland Clinic (U.S.)
\nKarolinska Universitetssjukhuset (Sweden)
\nMassachusetts General Hospital (U.S.)
\nThe Johns Hopkins Hospital (U.S.)
\nSheba Medical Center (Israel)
\nCharit\u00e9 – Universit\u00e4tsmedizin Berlin (Germany)
\nUniversit\u00e4tsspital Z\u00fcrich (Switzerland)
\nSingapore General Hospital \u00a0(Singapore)<\/p>\n
Other Toronto-based UHN hospitals were also recognized in the annual rankings, with\u00a0Toronto Western Hospital and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre\u00a0both included in the list of the world’s top 250 hospitals.<\/p>\n
