Former MPP and Toronto City Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti has died. He was 64.<\/p>\n
Mammoliti\u2019s son Christopher confirmed his passing to CityNews saying \u201cwe are crushed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDad was surrounded by his family when he passed. We are obviously devastated and are left with a tremendous void. Dad loved his family, his community and our beautiful city,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cWe respectfully ask for privacy at this time but will be sure to share the viewing information as it becomes available.\u201d<\/p>\n
Premier Doug Ford, who served on Toronto City Council with Mammoliti, said the news of his death was very sad and offered his condolences to his family.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a very colourful person in a good way \u2026 It\u2019s just terrible, terrible news, much too young,\u201d said Ford.<\/p>\n
In a tribute on Facebook, councillor Mike Colle said Mammoliti was \u201cfighting for his life\u201d at Sunnybrook Hospital before his passing.<\/p>\n
\u201cCondolences to his family and friends and may Giorgio\u2019s memory be an eternal blessing.
