{"id":499651,"date":"2026-02-26T00:33:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T00:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/499651\/"},"modified":"2026-02-26T00:33:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T00:33:09","slug":"hamilton-police-officer-charged-with-child-sex-abuse-offences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/499651\/","title":{"rendered":"Hamilton police officer charged with child sex abuse offences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"b-date-custom__date-item\">Updated:\u00a0February 25, 2026 at 4:01PM EST<\/p>\n<p class=\"b-date-custom__date-item\">Published:\u00a0February 25, 2026 at 1:49PM EST<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Halton police have arrested and charged a longtime Hamilton police officer in connection with an investigation involving child sexual abuse and exploitation material offences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said David Hamilton, 43, of Burlington, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.haltonpolice.ca\/news-releases\/posts\/internet-child-exploitation-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.haltonpolice.ca\/news-releases\/posts\/internet-child-exploitation-arrest\/\">was arrested on Feb. 25<\/a> and charged with one count each of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and transmitting child sexual abuse and exploitation material.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators said the offences are alleged to have occurred in Burlington between Jan. 3 and 4 of this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI can confirm the offences did not occur while the accused was engaged in any duties as it relates to his employment with Hamilton (Police Service),\u201d Halton police spokesperson Const.
