Seven players have been selected for the fifth annual CFL mentorship program, a joint initiative between the league and the CFL Players\u2019 Association (CFLPA) that offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at the business of football in order to further their professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s cohort includes free agent quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, Calgary Stampeders offensive lineman Bryce Bell, free agent offensive lineman Landon Rice, Calgary Stampeders defensive lineman Folarin Orimolade, Toronto Argonauts linebacker Jack Cassar, Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Stavros Katsantonis, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back Redha Kramdi.<\/p>\n

\u201cCareers in football can continue to thrive long past playing days,\u201d said CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston in a statement. \u201cIn business settings, in boardrooms, in the media and more \u2013 we have seen players transition to new and exciting opportunities to grow the game and to ensure its future is bright. We\u2019re excited to continue our efforts with the CFLPA to support our players on and off the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

The participants will meet with league office staff for information sessions across various departments, including football operations, social media and content, partnerships, marketing and communications, data insights, and more. Participants will visit the TSN studios for a behind-the-scenes look at the CFL on TSN broadcast.<\/p>\n

The program concludes at the University of Waterloo, where participants will assist in executing the CFL Invitational Combine.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrograms like this, in partnership with the league, reflect our commitment to supporting our members beyond their playing careers,\u201d said CFLPA executive director David Mackie. \u201cBy connecting players with experienced leaders and real-world business insights, we\u2019re helping them build the confidence, knowledge and networks they need to succeed long after they leave the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

This program supplements the work done through the CFLPA Academy, a resource provided to all active and recently retired members, as well as their families, to assist in career and personal development.<\/p>\n

Following the completion of the program, each participant will be paired with an individual mentor for ongoing advice and guidance on furthering their careers away from the field.<\/p>\n
