Milobar endorsed for B.C. Conservative leader by 5 sitting MLAs<\/p>\n

B.C. Conservative leadership hopeful and Kamloops Centre MLA Peter Milobar became the first to gain significant caucus support with the endorsement of five sitting MLAs on Wednesday (Feb. 25).<\/p>\n
All five turned out at a morning press conference on the steps of the legislature to get behind the Milobar campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all know Peter, we all know Peter\u2019s leadership, we all know Peter\u2019s skills, and anybody who watched him disassemble the government systematically on the budget last week knows that Peter is the full package,\u201d Kelowna-Mission MLA Gavin Dew said.<\/p>\n
Dew was joined in endorsing Milobar by Columbia River-Revelstoke MLA Scott McInnis, Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Kiel Giddens, Courtenay-Comox MLA Brennan Day, and Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Ward Stamer. Dew said there are a \u201cnumber more\u201d in the caucus ready to get behind Milobar.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The leadership race is just getting underway, with applications having been submitted to the party on Feb. 15. Eleven candidates submitted applications and are undergoing vetting. Voting will take place at the leadership convention on May 30.<\/p>\n
Giddens talked up the importance of the candidate having the support of sitting MLAs.<\/p>\n
\u201cEventually, this person is going to be leading, and Peter will be the leader who can unify our entire caucus, our entire membership and all British Columbians,\u201d Giddens said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Milobar endorsed for B.C.
