\n\tHeated Rivalry<\/a> is likely to return to television screens in the spring of 2027. <\/p>\n

\n\tShow creator Jacob Tierney<\/a> and executive producer Brendan Brady joined Gayle King<\/a> on CBS Mornings<\/a> Thursday, where the pair talked about the highly anticipated second season of the show. Tierney said they\u2019re writing the second season now and are shooting in August. King revealed that the show is expected to return in April 2027. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere will be more Heated Rivalry on your TVs, like, truly, as soon as humanly possible,\u201d Tierney said. Brady added that \u201clike the best parts of this show\u201d that fans should \u201cenjoy the yearn\u201d of waiting for the show\u2019s next season.<\/p>\n

\n\tTierney and Brady also spoke about making the show with Crave, the Canadian streamer that they\u2019d worked with previously for shows like Letterkenny and Shoresy. \u201cThey trusted me, but they also trusted the material and the audience already loved this,\u201d Tierney said. \u201cWhat struck me was that there\u2019s a lot of people who think that they\u2019re smarter than the audience that loves the book, and I don\u2019t think they are.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe writer, director and producer also added that he felt Heated Rivalry was a \u201cvery faithful adaptation\u201d of Rachel Reid\u2019s source material. \u201cThis was a Canadian book. We\u2019re Canadian producers,\u201d Tierney told King earlier in the segment.<\/p>\n

\n\tTierney and Brady have long been advocating for taking the story and the fans of the story seriously. \u201cThis is what I told Rachel [Reid] \u2014 the thing I want to do with it is take it seriously, which is to say I don\u2019t want to do what I think a lot of people do when they look at adapting romance, which is simplify, truncate, shorten,\u201d Tierney told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the show\u2019s premiere<\/a> in November. Added Brady, \u201c[We] wanted to elevate this to the level that it deserved.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHeated Rivalry, hailing from Canadian streamer Crave and airing on HBO Max in the U.S., centers on a fictional hockey universe based on Reid\u2019s books. The show focuses on two rival professional players \u2014 Canada-born Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams)<\/a> of the fictitious Montreal Metros and Russia-born Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie)<\/a> of the fictitious Boston Raiders \u2014 as they navigate a near-decade-long situationship-<\/a>turned-relationship.<\/p>\n

\n\tCrave renewed Heated Rivalry for a second season<\/a>, and HBO Max confirmed it will continue to air the series. Reid announced earlier this year that she\u2019ll be publishing<\/a> her seventh book in the Game Changers series, which Heated Rivalry and its sequel The Long Game belong to. The book, Unrivaled, will be the next chapter in Shane and Ilya\u2019s story. She announced Tuesday<\/a> that she\u2019d be pushing the book to a 2027 release date.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show has made certifiable stars out of Williams and Storrie. The leading men have also seemingly snagged their first post-Heated Rivalry roles with Williams joining the Crave series Yaga<\/a> and Storrie, who is hosting Saturday Night Live this week, eyeing a role in the A24 film Peaked<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Heated Rivalry is likely to return to television screens in the spring of 2027.
