Update: At 2:15 p.m., the shelter-in-place advisory was lifted in the Mississauga First Nation area.<\/p>\n

Police said people can resume their regular activities.<\/p>\n

The shelter-in-place was issued in response to an incident earlier this morning, the Ontario Provincial Police said.<\/p>\n

A heavy police presence continues, while the investigation remains ongoing, but there is no threat to public safety, the OPP said.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information related to this incident, including dashcam or home security footage, is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.<\/p>\n

Residents in an Ontario community have been advised to shelter in place due to an incident possibly involving weapons on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Officers are responding to an incident involving possibly armed individuals in the residential area of Village Road in Mississauga First Nation, Blind River, the Ontario Provincial Police said.<\/p>\n

Mississauga First Nation is about 140 kilometres east of Sault Ste. Marie.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents in the immediate area are urged to shelter-in-place\u2026\u201d the OPP said on X at 8:28 a.m.<\/p>\n

People outside are asked to seek shelter immediately in a secure location.<\/p>\n

Police asked people inside to remain there and lock all doors and windows. Close curtains or blinds to avoid drawing attention, police said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAn increased police presence can be expected while officers continue their response and investigation,\u201d the OPP said. \u201cWe recognize the significant emotional impact that receiving a shelter-in-place (advisory) can cause. The OPP is taking every precaution necessary to resolve this situation and maintain public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n
