<\/p>\nA new traffic signal and possible speed limit reduction are among changes that might be coming to a busy street in Mississauga\u2019s north end this year.<\/p>\n
The Millcreek Drive Road Safety initiative is one of three such ongoing projects in the Meadowvale area of the city.<\/p>\n
Millcreek Drive, a largely industrial\/business street that runs from just north of Derry Road all the way south to Britannia Road West in Streetsville, is being looked at by the City of Mississauga for a possible speed limit reduction.<\/p>\n
Ward 9 Coun. Martin Reid said in an online notice to the community that \u201cwith respect to the current speed limit regulations on Millcreek Drive, while a specific school zone designation is not recommended, (city) staff will review the roadway to determine if an overall speed limit reduction from its current 60 km\/h is appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n
That will be among the topics of discussion at a community meeting taking place Thursday night at Community Living Mississauga\u2019s Meadowvale office (6695 Millcreek Dr.).<\/p>\n
The townhall-style gathering, hosted by Reid and city traffic safety staff, runs from 6-7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Other matters on the agenda include installation of a new traffic signal, potential service changes affecting MiWay buses and passengers, and protective barriers requested for an area Montessori school.<\/p>\n
Reid said those in attendance will be updated on those matters and will have the opportunity to ask questions or comment.<\/p>\n
As part of the city\u2019s 2026 Traffic Signals Program, the councillor said a mid-block signal will be constructed on Millcreek Drive between the driveway at 6655 Millcreek Dr. and nearby Mullett Creek.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is expected that the mid-block signal would be designed and constructed in 2026. In addition, the (city\u2019s) Traffic Signals and Systems Section will continue to monitor Millcreek Drive at Millrace Court,\u201d Reid said in his notice to constituents.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, MiWay, the city\u2019s public transportation agency, has conducted a review of its bus stops along a segment of Millcreek Drive and is recommending some changes. Those recommendations will be presented at tonight\u2019s public meeting.<\/p>\n
In addition, city staff will respond at the public gathering to a request from residents to install protective barriers, such as bollards, at Western Heights Montessori School, located on Millcreek Drive.<\/p>\n
Staff do not recommend the installation of such barriers, Reid said in his online notice to the community.<\/p>\n
Two other projects in Meadowvale have also drawn much public interest the past couple of years:<\/p>\n
