Carrey said in French, with a thick American accent, \u201cAs an actor, each character you play is like clay in the sculptor\u2019s hands, which you shape to your heart\u2019s desire. How fortunate I have been to share this art with so many people who have truly opened their hearts to me.\u201d He then revealed that \u201cabout 300 years ago, (his) great, great, great, great, great, great-grandfather, Marc-Fran\u00e7ois Carr\u00e9, yes, Carr\u00e9, was born in France, in Saint Malo\u201d and emigrated to Canada. \u201cTonight with this magnificent honor, this square (carr\u00e9 in French) has come full circle,\u201d said the actor, who attended the event with his daughter Jane, grandson Jackson and girlfriend Mina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Mina. I love you, Mina. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father. Percy Joseph Carrey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAt the end of his speech, he asked the audience, \u201cSo, how was my French? Almost mediocre, right? Forgive me, I didn\u2019t speak French, but I\u2019m just learning it.
