Two sites in Surrey will become Soccer Fan Zones during the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament in June and July, according to documents posted on the city\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
Video screens showing games, live music, food trucks and other attractions are planned outdoors at Surrey Civic Plaza starting June 11 and inside Cloverdale Agriplex starting July 1, for a total of 48 \u201cactivation\u201d days at the two sites, both to operate simultaneously on July dates.<\/p>\n
The Fan Zones will feature \u201cthemed fan engagement such as interactive games, soccer skills competitions and activities\u201d including custom photo activations and licensed celebrations with music, food and beverage service.<\/p>\n
The goal is to \u201cbuild excitement before, during and after matches,\u201d 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on activation days.<\/p>\n

Bids are due by 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Surrey Soccer Fan Zones will provide an engaging experience for Surrey, offering opportunities for both soccer fans and residents to participate in the World Cup 2026 excitement,\u201d the website says.<\/p>\n Civic Plaza will be busier of the two sites with 34 \u201cactivation days,\u201d 14 at the Agriplex.<\/p>\n More information about Surrey Soccer Fan Zones will be shared Tuesday (March 3) during a news conference at Surrey City Hall.<\/p>\n The 2026 FIFA tournament will see 104 games played in 16 host cities in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, including seven matches in Vancouver. Qatar will play Canada in BC Place Stadium on June 18, and Switzerland takes on the home squad six days later, among other matches there.<\/p>\n Team Canada is in Group B<\/a> along with Qatar, Switzerland and the winner of UEFA Playoff A, to be decided in March.<\/p>\n Mexico and South Africa teams play in the tournament-opening match in Mexico City on Thursday, June 11.<\/p>\n Meantime, the City of Surrey has submitted an official response to Canada Soccer\u2019s request to explore potential locations for a national training centre, described as a \u201ccornerstone legacy project\u201d of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n Four sites in Surrey are pitched as possible locations for the <\/a>centre<\/a>, which would support national teams, athlete development, coach and referee education, sports science and community programming.<\/p>\n \u201cSurrey is a natural fit for this kind of world-class facility,\u201d Mayor Brenda Locke says. \u201cWe have one of the youngest and fastest-growing populations in the country, strong soccer programs, transportation links and a commitment to sport development.
