\n While the Trump administration has shown no hesitation to bash Canada \u2013 especially after the US men\u2019s Olympic hockey team won gold <\/a>in overtime \u2013 one of the players took issue with a recent AI-generated TikTok posted by the White House that made it sound like he was trash-talking Canadians.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cThey booed our national anthem, so I had to come out and teach those maple-syrup-eating-f**ks a lesson,\u201d Team USA\u2019s Brady Tkachuk appears to say<\/a> in the video posted on the White House TikTok earlier this week. A disclaimer at the bottom of the video notes that it \u201ccontains AI-generated media,\u201d with the clip appearing to modify footage from one of Tkachuk\u2019s press conferences.\n <\/p>\n

\n While Tkachuk won gold on the US men\u2019s Olympic hockey team \u2013 beating Canada 2-1 \u2013 he plays professionally on a Canadian-based National Hockey League team, as captain of the Ottawa Senators.\n <\/p>\n

\n But whatever animosity the White House directed toward Canada was not shared by the player himself, who told reporters on Thursday that he did not condone the video.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt\u2019s clearly fake, because it\u2019s not my voice and not my lips moving,\u201d Tkachuk said. \u201cI\u2019m not in control of any of those accounts and, uh, yeah so, I know that those words would never come out of my mouth, so can\u2019t do anything about it.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Pressed, if he liked the video, Tkachuk said, \u201cI would never say that. That\u2019s not who I am, so yeah, I guess I don\u2019t like that video.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIf you watch the video, that\u2019s not my voice and something that I never say, and I don\u2019t really know how that, kind of, took a storm on its own when I play here and give everything I have here,\u201d Tkachuk said. \u201cThat\u2019s something that \u2013 never a thought would happen in my head, and especially would never say it.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI would never say anything like that,\u201d he added.\n <\/p>\n

\n Four other players on the US men\u2019s Olympic hockey team also play for Canada-based teams.\n <\/p>\n

\n CNN has reached to the White House for comment on Tkachuk\u2019s remarks and the video itself.\n <\/p>\n

\n Commenting on Trump\u2019s prior taunts to make Canada the 51st US state, Tkachuk told reporters, \u201cI know I don\u2019t want that, because I still want to play in the best-on-best tournaments.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The TikTok is just the latest example of the White House mocking Canada as it promotes Team USA\u2019s win <\/a>and subsequent visit to Washington on social media.\n <\/p>\n

\n On Monday, Trump posted an AI-generated video of himself playing hockey in a suit and red tie, throwing one Canadian player down on the ice and beating up another. Below the video was an old social media post from former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom Trump often referred to as \u201cGovernor,\u201d which said, \u201cYou can\u2019t take our country \u2013 and you can\u2019t take our game.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The video ends with the AI-generated USA players hugging him.\n <\/p>\n

\n Trump\u2019s comments about the US women\u2019s Olympic hockey team, which also won gold against Canada in the Olympics, also sparked controversy this week.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI must tell you, we\u2019re gonna have to bring the women\u2019s team \u2014 you do know that,\u201d Trump said over a speakerphone held by FBI Director Kash Patel<\/a>, when inviting the men\u2019s team to the White House and his State of the Union Address. If he didn\u2019t invite them, Trump said, \u201cI do believe I probably would be impeached,\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The captain for the US women\u2019s Olympic hockey team called Trump\u2019s comments a \u201cdistasteful<\/a>\u201d joke. The women\u2019s team declined to attend the State of the Union address, citing scheduling issues.\n <\/p>\n

\n It\u2019s also not the first time the White House has gotten in hot water for an AI-generated video. Just weeks ago, Trump posted a racist video<\/a> depicting former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as apes, which he blamed on a staffer who didn\u2019t watch it all the way through. While the White House often doubles down when criticized, the video was deleted after widespread bipartisan backlash, including pushback from the only Black GOP senator, Tim Scott.\n <\/p>\n
