CTV\u2019s Reta Ismail with the story. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Justice Lynne Leitch handed down her decision inside a London, Ont. courtroom Thursday in the assault case of Andrew Kanoun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Romone Barrington Bowen, 33, of Brampton, has been found guilty of three charges, including aggravated assault for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/london\/article\/london-police-lay-attempted-murder-charge-against-suspect-wanted-since-mid-august\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/london\/article\/london-police-lay-attempted-murder-charge-against-suspect-wanted-since-mid-august\/\">crime committed on Aug. 17, 2023.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The court heard that Bowen, shot Kanoun, 27, from London, eight times in a Richmond Row parking lot, after an altercation between two groups of people in which one of Kanoun\u2019s friends was robbed of personal property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Kanoun sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and spent a month in hospital.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/JIX2MFPF2NDEFJ3TWTIJ2IMZMA.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Andrew Kanoun Andrew Kanoun is seen in this undated photo. (Source: Andrew Kanoun) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Video surveillance and cell phone data obtained from the scene and entered into evidence during the trial ultimately placed Bowen at the shooting scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On Aug. 17, 2023 police arrested and charged Jerome Walcott, 30, of London, with robbery\/theft from a person with violence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Justice Leitch said, Walcott\u2019s pre-trial testimony, ultimately confirmed that Bowen was the man who shot Kanoun. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As she handed down her verdict, Leitch said \u201cI am satisfied, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Mr. Bowen is the shooter seen in the video, and that Mr. Bowen shot Mr. Kanoun.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Romone Barrington Bowen has been found guilty in the 2023 shooting of Andrew Kanoun.
