{"id":50343,"date":"2025-08-06T20:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T20:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/50343\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T20:39:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T20:39:07","slug":"shadow-ridge-team-wins-kelowna-leg-of-pro-junior-golf-championship-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/50343\/","title":{"rendered":"Shadow Ridge team wins Kelowna leg of pro-junior golf championship series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The team of professional Mark Kitts and juniors Asher Arychuk, Henry Sutherland and Luke Haas won by four strokes with a net score of -19 in the first stop of the series<\/p>\n<p>Shadow Ridge Golf Club can lay claim to some bragging rights in the world of Kelowna golf \u2014 as can an Okanagan Golf Club junior who carded a hole-in-one\u00a0with her first swing at\u00a0a high-level\u00a0tournament last month.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The PGA of BC&#8217;s Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship Series saw golfers from across the province compete in four regional events throughout the month of July. The teams competed in a two-net best ball format and the juniors showcased high levels of play, sportsmanship and a love of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0first stop of the series took place at Michaelbrook Golf Course in Kelowna on July 15, which saw seven teams compete. Shadow Ridge&#8217;s\u00a0Mark Kitts,\u00a0Asher Arychuk,\u00a0Henry Sutherland\u00a0and\u00a0Luke Haas emerged victorious, winning by four strokes with a net score of 19-under. Guided by professional Kitts, the team of up-and-coming juniors excelled on their way to the Interior Pro-Junior title.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finishing as runner-up in the event at 15-under was the\u00a0team from Kelowna&#8217;s Okanagan Golf Club:\u00a0Conner Kozak (formerly from Vernon),\u00a0Autumn Lapp,\u00a0Tierra Elchuk\u00a0and\u00a0Velvet Haynes. On the par-three seventh hole, which was the team&#8217;s first hole in the shotgun start, Lapp&#8217;s first swing of\u00a0the day ended up in the hole for an ace.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Justin Towill,\u00a0Charlie Grant,\u00a0Bennett Lisk\u00a0and\u00a0Braydon McKechnie of Kelowna&#8217;s Harvest Golf Club earned third place with a 14-under score.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The series then moved to Fort Langley Golf Course for its Lower Mainland stop on July 17, with 16 teams competing.\u00a0Richmond Country Club&#8217;s\u00a0Sebastien Turgeon,\u00a0Ethan You,\u00a0Tristan Cui\u00a0and\u00a0Carson Chow\u00a0won the tournament, shooting 22-under par to win by three strokes.<\/p>\n<p>The next edition of the series took place at Cedar Hill Golf Course in Victoria on July 21, where 11 teams from Vancouver Island took to the course.\u00a0Myrtle Point Golf Club&#8217;s\u00a0Ryan Brown,\u00a0Lucas Vizzutti,\u00a0Jeremy Pukesh\u00a0and\u00a0Jacob Babcock came out on top, shooting a net score of 15 under par.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The final event of the series saw six teams from the Kootenays compete at Windermere Valley Golf Club on July 22.\u00a0Cranbrook Golf Club\u2019s\u00a0Jake Lloy,\u00a0Ethan Pinch,\u00a0Collin Kakuno\u00a0and\u00a0Kaden Hatala\u00a0won the event, earning the Kootenays title after shooting 11-under par for a one-shot victory.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by Sundog Eyewear, Blue Tees Golf and Adidas Golf Canada, the events were made possible through the hard work of the host professionals.
