BLUFFTON, S.C. \u2013 Rutgers men’s golf returns to action this weekend at the Colleton River Collegiate, hosted by Michigan State, at the prestigious Colleton River Club Dye Course in Bluffton, South Carolina.<\/p>\n

The 54-hole stroke play event will be contested Sunday, March 1 through Monday, March 2. Teams will play 36 holes on Sunday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and continuous play, followed by the final round Monday beginning at 7:45 a.m. The format is play five, count four, with scoring available via Clippd.<\/p>\n

Competing on the par-72, 7,403-yard Dye Course, six Scarlet Knights will make the trip south: Argyle Downes<\/a>, Lucas Politano<\/a>, Daniel Martinez-Regal<\/a>, Bennett Espenshade<\/a>, Jeffrey Zatorski<\/a>, and Luke Koenig<\/a>. Downes\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rutgers opened its spring campaign with a strong fifth-place finish at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The Scarlet Knights were paced by sophomore Argyle Downes<\/a>, who placed third individually, and freshman Lucas Politano<\/a>, who delivered an impressive 12th-place finish in a field of more than 80 competitors. The performance marked a confident start to the spring slate and built momentum heading into one of the season’s marquee events. Downes was awarded the Big Ten Golfer of the Week for his performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Dye Course at Colleton River Club provides a significant test. Situated along the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by South Carolina’s picturesque low-country landscape, the 1,500-acre member-owned community has hosted numerous high-profile events, including the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and multiple U.S. Open qualifiers. Known for its strategic layout and visually striking design, the course also gained national recognition as a filming location for The Legend of Bagger Vance.<\/p>\n
With a proven lineup and early-season confidence, the Scarlet Knights look to continue their upward trajectory against a strong field in Bluffton.<\/p>\n
