{"id":503610,"date":"2026-02-27T18:57:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T18:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/503610\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T18:57:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T18:57:10","slug":"police-seeking-witnesses-to-downtown-vancouver-hit-and-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/503610\/","title":{"rendered":"Police seeking witnesses to downtown Vancouver hit-and-run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police are seeking witnesses after a driver struck and injured a pedestrian without stopping in downtown Vancouver Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says officers responded to reports of the hit-and-run near the intersection of Columbia and East Hastings streets around 11:20 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple emergency crews responded, and police shut down traffic in the area for several hours.<\/p>\n<p>BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics treated one patient who was taken to hospital in \u201cserious, but stable, condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an update Friday, the VPD confirmed the victim, a 39-year-old woman, is still in hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the driver was operating a black Kenworth dump truck when they struck the woman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver of the dump truck continued driving westbound and may be unaware of the collision,\u201d Const.
