Police in B.C. say six charges have been laid against a Vancouver-based social media influencer following a human-trafficking investigation. <\/p>\n

RCMP say an investigation into a man suspected to be involved in human trafficking began last May. It’s alleged that the victim was trafficked throughout the Lower Mainland and the Greater Toronto Area. <\/p>\n

On Feb. 20, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges against 31-year-old Tevin Douglas: <\/p>\n

trafficking in persons;procuring a person to provide sexual services;material benefit from trafficking; material benefit from sexual services;advertising sexual services; and sexual assault. <\/p>\n

RCMP say the offences are alleged to have happened between July 1 and Dec. 1, 2023. <\/p>\n

With help from police in Vancouver and Burnaby, as well as B.C.’s anti-gang agency, investigators arrested Douglas at his Vancouver home, where a search warranted was then executed.<\/p>\n

He was released by the courts on Feb. 24 on numerous conditions. <\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigators believe there are individuals with additional information who have not yet come forward,\u201d said Insp. Lyndsay O\u2019Ruairc of the B.C. Counter Human Trafficking Unit. <\/p>\n
