Lacombe leaders made their voices heard at the nation’s capital yesterday, advocating for the future of the Lacombe Research and Development Centre.<\/p>\n
Mayor Thalia Hibbs and County Reeve John Ireland appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food to speak directly to federal decision-makers about the critical importance of the Centre, calling it a pillar of innovation, food security and agricultural strength across Canada.<\/p>\n

During their testimony, Hibbs and Ireland emphasized the significant impact a proposed closure would have on local families, agricultural producers and Canada\u2019s long-term research capacity.<\/p>\n
They argued the Centre\u2019s independent research and decades of contributions to the livestock and crop sectors are irreplaceable \u2014 and that now is a time for increased investment in agricultural research, not reductions.<\/p>\n
