Popular radio host Marilyn Denis is leaving the CHUM 104.5 FM morning show.<\/p>\n
News of Denis\u2019 departure was announced on Thursday morning, nearly 40 years after she began working as a host on the station\u2019s morning show.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In her on-air announcement today, Denis said \u201cit\u2019s been a privilege\u201d to work at the radio station for close to four decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I make the decision to step away from the station I love, I look back with pride and gratitude, knowing I had the honour of saying, \u2018I worked at CHUM,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd now, the real adventure is ahead \u2013 and I\u2019m looking forward to all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, Denis admitted \u201cit\u2019s not easy to walk away\u201d from the radio show, but said the timing is right.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cLeading up to her final morning show broadcast, CHUM 104.5 is set to celebrate Denis\u2019s career and legacy with some surprises that are sure to delight fans and provide can\u2019t miss moments,\u201d Bell Media, which owns CHUM 104.5, said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMarilyn\u2019s historic career has spanned radio and television, and she has connected with listeners and viewers across the country through her candid approach, sense of humour, and ability to lead unforgettable conversations and interviews,\u201d Bell Media executive Dave Daigle said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we will all miss having Marilyn wake us up every morning, we are incredibly proud to have been her home for the last 40 years,\u201d he continued. \u201cMarilyn\u2019s legacy will live on through everyone who has had the privilege of working with her, and all those she\u2019s inspired.\u201d<\/p>\n
Denis\u2019 last CHUM 104.5 broadcast will take place this summer, though the exact date has yet to be announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She first joined CHUM 104.5 in 1986 after she auditioned to become Roger Ashby\u2019s radio co-host.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The media personality earlier ended her CTV program The Marilyn Denis Show in\u00a02023 after 13 seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
