We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p>Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n<p>Californian authorities have issued warnings after<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/voices\/giant-rat-found-london-pest-control-b2802686.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> trappers once again reported finding wild pigs<\/a> with \u201cbright blue\u201d flesh.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/california\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">California<\/a> Department of Fish and Wildlife said it had received reports of the bizarre occurrence in March, and that the phenomenon is a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/health\/preschool-risk-chemical-exposure-b2781177.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> sign that the animals have been poisoned<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s wild,\u201d Dan Burton,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/how-to-humanely-deal-with-pests-without-using-cruel-traps-or-harmful-chemicals-b2802236.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> owner of Urban Trapping Wildlife Control, <\/a>who first reported the oddly coloured flesh, told The Los Angeles Times. \u201cI\u2019m not talking about a little blue\u2026 I\u2019m talking about neon blue, blueberry blue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A statement issued by the CDFW last week said that wild pigs in the Monterey County area had been exposed to pesticide bait containing the anticoagulant rodenticide Diphacinone, a poison that prevents blood from clotting and causes internal bleeding in rodents, ultimately killing them.<\/p>\n<p>Blue tissue and flesh can be a sign of rodenticide ingestion, which can occur by eating bait \u2013 which often contain dye to identify them as poison \u2013 or other animals that have ingested the substance, the department said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Blue-Pig.jpeg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Californian authorities have issued warnings after trappers again reported finding wild pigs with \u2018bright blue\u2019 flesh.
