The Red Wings have offered the Canucks a second-round pick for Myers, according to multiple reports. So they have that working for them.<\/p>\n But Detroit isn\u2019t close to B.C., where Myers\u2019 family is well established. The Red Wings also aren\u2019t widely viewed as a legitimate Stanley Cup contender.<\/p>\n Dhaliwal said on Friday that he believes Myers would waive his no-movement clause for a trade to the Dallas Stars, given the Houston-born blueliner\u2019s ties to Texas. The Stars are currently one of the favourites to win the Stanley Cup, but we don\u2019t yet know what they\u2019ve offered.<\/p>\n Myers was born in Houston, before moving to Calgary as a child (Bob Frid\/Imagn Images)<\/p>\n The Stars would have an easy time adding Myers\u2019 $3-million cap hit to their roster, given the news that Tyler Seguin will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL<\/a>. As such, they\u2019ll get cap relief on his $9.85-million AAV salary.<\/p>\n The Colorado Avalanche<\/a> are another team that has been linked to the 6-foot-8 blueliner. They\u2019re another contending team with enough cap space to add Myers with relative ease.<\/p>\n Myers is in the second year of a three-year contract with a no-movement clause that converts to a modified no-trade clause (12-team list according to PuckPedia<\/a>) on July 1.<\/p>\n He could block the Detroit deal and wait to see if a more favourable team steps up before next week\u2019s March 6 trade deadline. Nobody should blame Myers for blocking a trade, but it does seem like a matter of when, not if, he gets dealt.
