{"id":505127,"date":"2026-02-28T11:19:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T11:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/505127\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T11:19:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T11:19:08","slug":"formula-1-what-are-the-different-tyres-used-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/505127\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula 1: What are the different tyres used in 2026?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Slicks are the tyres used most often and get their name from having a smooth, rounded look.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">There are five slick compounds, ranging from the hardest to the softest &#8211; C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Pirelli selects three compounds from this range for each race week &#8211; and the selection depends on possible strategies and characteristics of the tracks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">So for one race, the C3 could be the softest tyre, whereas for another it could be the  medium or hardest tyre in the selection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Each compound is defined by its colour, with the softest marked red, the medium yellow and the hard white.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The red softs provide the most grip, but do not last long before degrading. The white hard tyres last the longest but offer less grip and speed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Soft tyres are typically best for qualifying or short stints, while medium and hard tyres are preferred for longer runs in races.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Slicks are the tyres used most often and get their name from having a smooth, rounded look.
