Carson Hocevar\u2019s<\/a> aggressive driving style continues to be one of the biggest talking points in the NASCAR<\/a> garage. After another controversial moment in Atlanta, the question many are asking is whether payback will eventually come for the Spire Motorsports wheelman.<\/p>\n

On the latest episode of The Teardown<\/a>, Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi discussed<\/a> Hocevar\u2019s growing reputation and whether his hard-charging approach could lead to retaliation from veteran drivers as the season progresses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt could,\u201d Bianchi said<\/a> when asked if retribution is coming. \u201cYou mess with the wrong guy at the wrong time, and it could come back and bite you, and he may see retribution. Joey Logano is one of those guys who \u2014 he\u2019s going to remember things, and Joey\u2019s not afraid to go tit-for-tat with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hocevar\u2019s latest moment of controversy came during overtime at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta, when he attempted to split a narrow gap between Christopher Bell<\/a> and Bubba Wallace<\/a>. The move ended with Bell in the wall and Hocevar once again at the center of the conversation, a familiar spot for the young driver early in his Cup Series career.<\/p>\n

Still, Bianchi pointed out that Hocevar\u2019s situation is far from unique. NASCAR history is full of young, aggressive drivers who drew criticism before eventually finding their place in the garage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is also part of it,\u201d Bianchi explained. \u201cThe same conversation we had earlier about Brad Keselowski<\/a> in 2014. Remember all of that? It started even before that. \u2018Brad\u2019s too aggressive. Brad\u2019s style can\u2019t win a championship.\u2019 Tony was calling him out, Jimmie was calling him out, everybody was calling him out. Brad said, \u2018This is how I race, deal with it,\u2019 and people adjusted.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that Joey Logano<\/a> went through a similar phase early in his career. Logano\u2019s willingness to push the limits upset some of the sport\u2019s biggest stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had the same conversations about Joey,\u201d Bianchi explained. \u201cHe was making Denny mad, Kyle mad, Tony mad \u2014 everybody mad. People learn, and the garage adjusts, and the driver adjusts a little bit too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even more recently, Ross Chastain<\/a> faced the same scrutiny as he climbed the Cup Series ladder. He proved that Hocevar\u2019s situation may simply be part of NASCAR\u2019s natural cycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cA couple years ago, we were having the same conversation about Ross Chastain,\u201d Bianchi elaborated. \u201cThis is the natural progression of the ecosystem in the garage. You get somebody new, fresh, trying to prove themselves. They have their way of doing it, and eventually everybody adapts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alas, Hocevar has already embraced the \u201cHurricane\u201d nickname, leaning into the aggressive style that has made him one of the most talked-about drivers in the sport. While veterans like Hamlin and Ryan Blaney have offered advice, Hocevar has made it clear he isn\u2019t planning to change.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just out there racing,\u201d Hocevar told Gluck via The Gluckcast. \u201cI\u2019m going to be super aggressive. \u2026 Just getting after it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether that approach leads to wins or retaliation may be one of the biggest storylines to watch as the NASCAR season continues.
