{"id":507236,"date":"2026-03-01T11:17:21","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T11:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/507236\/"},"modified":"2026-03-01T11:17:21","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T11:17:21","slug":"local-gardening-enthusiasts-get-seedy-at-algoma-public-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/507236\/","title":{"rendered":"Local gardening enthusiasts get &#8216;seedy&#8217; at Algoma Public Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Annual Seedy Saturday event is part of a larger movement to get people growing their own food, flowers and herbs     <\/p>\n<p>For many gardeners, Seedy Saturday marks the beginning of the growing season.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s edition of the event was bustling today, with dozens of gardening enthusiasts showing up at Algoma Public Health to check out the various seed vendors and gardening-related businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Held in communities across the country in early spring, Seedy Saturday is part of a larger movement aimed at\u00a0bringing people together\u00a0to cultivate their own food, flowers and herbs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, everybody&#8217;s sort of stuck inside during the winter, so we&#8217;re just trying to get people out here,\u201d said Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society president Rod Morrison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re trying to get kids and youth involved in things like growing their own garden, supporting people making their own food and stuff like that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re all just really strong gardeners, so we just like being out in the community encouraging people to garden, whether it&#8217;s growing indoor plants in the winter, or entering flower competitions during the summertime \u2014 or just growing the best garden you can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sault Ste.
