AZUSA, Calif. \u2014 No. 12 Azusa Pacific delivered a dominant day at the Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex, sweeping Whittier College and Stanton University in a Saturday doubleheader with identical 7\u20130 victories.<\/p>\n

Match 1: No. 12 APU 7, Whittier 0<\/p>\n

The Cougars (7\u20134) opened the day in commanding fashion, sweeping all three doubles courts against Whittier. Joan Crespo<\/a> and Christopher Marci<\/a> set the tone with a 6\u20131 win at No. 1 doubles, while Soeren Grandke<\/a> and Michael Marci<\/a> and Sam Bergstrand<\/a> and Leo Weishaupt<\/a> matched that dominance to secure the early point.<\/p>\n

Singles play followed the same script. Crespo blanked his opponent 6\u20130, 6\u20130 at No. 1, and Viktor Van Craenenbroeck<\/a>, Ben Behrend<\/a>, and Christopher Marci<\/a> each won in straight sets. Jacob Rudd-Hicks<\/a> and Andrew Lee-Bliss<\/a> closed out tight matches to complete the shutout.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon session, Azusa Pacific repeated the feat, again sweeping doubles to take control early. The No. 1 tandem of Soeren Grandke<\/a> and Mathys Pinoit<\/a> led the charge, while David James Brownlee<\/a> and Viktor Van Craenenbroeck<\/a> and Christopher Marci<\/a> and Sam Bergstrand<\/a> secured wins at Nos. 2 and 3.<\/p>\n

The Cougars carried that momentum into singles. Mathys Pinoit<\/a> earned a three-set victory at No. 1, and Ben Behrend<\/a> rallied for a comeback win at No. 3. Leo Weishaupt<\/a>, Jacob Rudd-Hicks<\/a>, and Christopher Marci<\/a> each added straight-set victories.<\/p>\n

The fastest statement of the day came from David James Brownlee<\/a>, who needed just 39 minutes to secure a dominant 6\u20130, 6\u20130 win at No. 2 singles, overwhelming his opponent and setting the tone for the sweep.<\/p>\n
