The Honor Magic V6 is now official, so let’s do an unboxing. Ours is the Red model, and it ships with a USB cable and a color-matching red-and-gold case.<\/p>\n

The Magic V6 supports faster 80W wired and 66W wireless charging to the Magic V5’s 66W\/50W, but you’d need to buy the needed charger.<\/p>\n

The rear of the case tries to emulate the suede-like finish of the phone’s rear panel, but it’s nowhere as nice to the touch. It does, however, have the same color-changing qualities as the phone itself – the red changes its contrast under different angles.<\/p>\n

The case also has a clever kickstand that’s built around the camera island.<\/p>\n

The Honor Magic V5 was a trailblazer in foldable build. It was among the toughest foldables last year; it had IP58 + IP59 protection and supplied a bigger 5,820mAh battery to most conventional flagship slab phones.<\/p>\n

The Magic V6 makes improvements on all of these fronts. For starters, the phone is slightly thinner and weighs about the same. However, impressively, it packs a much larger 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery. The battery has a higher energy density with around 25% silicon content.<\/p>\n

The Magic V6 is thin and light<\/p>\n

The camera system has changed less. You’re looking at roughly the same triple main camera – 50MP wide angle, 64MP 70mm zoom, and 50MP ultrawide. There are two 20MP selfie shooters as well.<\/p>\n

But Honor has bumped the stabilization to an industry-leading 6.5 CIPA rating.<\/p>\n

Honor says that the folding 7.95-inch screen has the least visible crease on a book-style foldable. To get technical, Honor says the crease is 44% shallower than the V5’s crease, and that the inner screen is some 33% more impact-resistant.<\/p>\n

The cover display has gotten slightly larger at 6.52-inch (up from 6.43-inch. That’s a welcome change for those who want a more conventional smartphone experience when using the foldable closed.<\/p>\n
