The motive was obvious, to redirect digital payments into another person\u2019s e wallet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is why I usually check the vendor\u2019s name on the QR and the name in the QR on my phone. If it is weird, I will ask the vendor myself,\u201d said netizen @sebulatbulan who was following the post on X.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236546 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Q2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"138\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrazy. I never thought about such a way to steal. Smart but at the wrong place,\u201d added @ajmal_hadi.<\/p>\n<p>Another netizen mentioned that he had seen such a method used somewhere in a Tamil film. The comment section was also filled with racist and stereotypical comments from ugly Malaysians.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then there was @iamHaflinger suggesting that vendors use a machine that announces when money has entered their digital wallet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236548 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Q4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"120\"\/><\/p>\n<p>But is this novel technique so useful? Firstly it was very obvious since the vendor and customer could see the QR code right on top of the former.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Second, the name of the account holder is shown when scanned, which makes it easy for the authorities to trace and catch the culprit.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps this is why it is not being adopted by the other thieves out there. Towards this thought, netizen @Fikrilakbar suggested that people scan the QR and transfer only 10 sen.
