The Museum of Surrey\u2019s newest free exhibit is showcasing exactly that, highlighting the integral part hockey has played in Canada\u2019s past<\/a> and present. Excitingly, it also shines a light on Surrey\u2019s local hockey heroes, as well as having plenty of interactive activities that will get the whole family hooting and hollering for a goal.<\/p>\n

Celebrating Canada\u2019s Game<\/p>\n

Our Connection to Hockey explores how Canada\u2019s deep ties to the sport has brought together individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole.<\/a> From its humble beginnings in backyard ice rinks to international games, hockey\u2019s legacy stretches far into Canada\u2019s past and well into its future.<\/p>\n

Visitors will have the chance to learn all about how hockey is part of the glue that keeps Canada together. Alongside the national icons on showcase, Surrey\u2019s own athletes and game-changers will be under the same spotlight, as well as the untold stories of diversity in hockey. Women\u2019s hockey, para hockey, and Punjabi broadcasters have all played some amazing parts in making the sport what it is today\u2013 especially locally.<\/p>\n

Here, you can admire jerseys, examine historical hockey gear, and check out all the amazing artefacts from Canada\u2019s favourite sport.<\/p>\n

On The Rink<\/p>\n

Alongside learning about hockey\u2019s history, visitors will also be able to take part in plenty of interactive fun. Whether you\u2019re taking a slap-shot, sitting in a sled, or are playing bubble hockey,<\/a> these hands-on activities will get the whole family in on the sport. Add in the immersion of the sights and sounds of being in the middle of a game and you\u2019ve got one very dynamic exhibit.<\/p>\n
