Hendrick Motorsports<\/a> has confirmed that Alex Bowman<\/a> has been replaced during Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series<\/a> race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) due to needing medical attention.<\/p>\n

Bowman had qualified in 16th for the race, but collected valuable championship points with a top-10 finish in stage one<\/a> before falling back down the order.<\/p>\n

Now, with 20 laps to go in Austin, Texas, he has been replaced in the No. 48 Chevrolet by Myatt Snider. Prior to getting in the car, Snider had been working as a pit spotter for FOX.<\/p>\n

Exactly what is wrong with Bowman is unconfirmed, but it came after the driver told his team he was ‘pretty much f****d’ over the radio after he was told: “Don’t do anything to permanent damage yourself with whatever you’ve got going on here.”<\/p>\n

Hendrick Motorsports has issued the following statement: “Alex Bowman needed medical attention and has gone to infield care. Myatt Snyder will finish the race.”<\/p>\n
