Basketball<\/p>\n
Ten North Bay prep basketball teams will be continuing their seasons in the Northern California playoff tournament this week.<\/p>\n
The Cardinal Newman girls, winners of the North Bay League Oak division with a perfect 10-0 record, will compete in the second-highest NorCal bracket, Division 1, but received the 16th and final seed for the tournament. The Cardinals will open Tuesday on the road at Clovis, the division\u2019s top seed.<\/p>\n
No North Bay teams were selected to play in the top-tier Open division among either boys or girls.<\/p>\n
The Justin-Siena girls are seeded No. 11 in Division 2 and start Tuesday at No. 6 Woodcreek.<\/p>\n
The Rancho Cotate girls are No. 16 in Division\u00a04 and begin play Tuesday at No. 1 Faith Christian in Yuba City.<\/p>\n
The Healdsburg girls, who won the North Coast Section title this past Saturday night, are No. 13 in Division\u00a05 and open Tuesday at No.\u00a04 Escalon.<\/p>\n
Sonoma Academy is also in that division and plays the same night at No. 2 John Adams Academy in El\u00a0Dorado Hills as the No. 15 seed.<\/p>\n
The St. Vincent girls, No. 6 in the eight-team Division 6 bracket, play Wednesday at No. 3 Forest Lake Christian in Auburn.<\/p>\n
Grace Christian Academy is also in the bracket as the No. 7 seed and plays Wednesday at No. 2 Redding Christian.<\/p>\n
On the boys\u2019 side, Rancho Cotate received the No. 2 seed in Division\u00a05 and will host No. 15 Mt. Shasta on Tuesday night in Rohnert Park.<\/p>\n
The Cougars could face No. 7 Sonoma Academy in the second round, if the Coyotes get past No. 10 Gridley in their opener.<\/p>\n
In Division 6, the St. Vincent boys, also coming off a North Coast Section title, are the second seed and will host No. 7 Biggs in Wednesday\u2019s opener.<\/p>\n
The second round in divisions\u00a01 through 5 takes place Thursday, with the regional semifinals set for Saturday.<\/p>\n
Teams in Division 6 that open Wednesday night will play their semifinals Saturday.<\/p>\n
Regional finals in the higher divisions are set for Tuesday, March\u00a010, with the winners advancing to play a Southern California counterpart on Friday or Saturday, March 13 and 14, for a state title in Sacramento.<\/p>\n
Soccer<\/p>\n
The Cardinal Newman girls received the third seed in the Division II bracket and will open the tournament at home against sixth-seeded St. Ignatius of San Francisco.<\/p>\n
The Cardinals won third place in the North Coast Section\u2019s top-tier Open division with Saturday night\u2019s 2-0 victory over Amador Valley. Newman also won the North Bay League Oak division regular-season title with an undefeated league record of 9-0-1.<\/p>\n
Newman will host St. Ignatius at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Santa Rosa.<\/p>\n
The Sonoma Academy girls are the fourth seed in Division III and will host fifth-seeded Aptos at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Santa Rosa. The Coyotes won the North Central League I and are coming off their first-ever NCS title in winter soccer with Friday night\u2019s 1-0 double-overtime victory over University-San Francisco.<\/p>\n
The Vintage boys will also be competing in the NorCal tournament as the fourth seed in Division II. The Crushers will welcome No. 5 Aptos to Memorial Stadium in Napa for Tuesday night\u2019s first-round contest at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Vintage, which finished in fourth place in the NCS Open division, went undefeated in the Vine Valley Athletic League with a 12-0 mark to win the league title.<\/p>\n
