\n\tSome viewers were left scratching their heads after Sombr<\/a>\u2018s performance at the 2026 BRIT Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ceremony<\/a>, held Sunday (Feb. 28) at Manchester\u2019s Co-op Live, saw the 20-year-old singer-songwriter take the stage to perform his hit song \u201cUndressed,\u201d which reached No. 1<\/a> on Billboard\u2019s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in September 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\tMidway through the performance, a man suddenly rushed the stage and pushed Sombr off the platform. Security quickly apprehended the supposed intruder and escorted him away, while Sombr \u2014 clad in a shimmery purple ensemble \u2014 returned to the mic and carried on with the show.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmid the chaos, the glittering backdrop fell away to reveal a full band as Sombr smoothly transitioned into his next number, the chart-topping \u201cBack to Friends,\u201d which reached No. 1<\/a> on Billboard\u2019s Pop Airplay chart earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhy do people push Artists like wtf Poor Sombr,\u201d one person wrote<\/a> in a comments section of a video posted on X. Another added<\/a>, \u201cSecurity was a little late on that one\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWas it planned,\u201d someone else asked<\/a>. One viewer wrote<\/a>, \u201cThe way he managed to carry on shows that he\u2019s a true professional. I\u2019d have run!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAdding to the confusion, the man who pushed Sombr was wearing a black T-shirt that read, \u201cSombr Is A Homewrecker,\u201d leaving some to speculate whether it was a publicity stunt to promote the artist\u2019s new single, \u201cHomewrecker.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHis new song his called homewrecker. very staged. clever way to get headlines tho,\u201d a person observed<\/a> in the comments. Another commended Sombr for clever marketing. \u201cI actually love when artists come up with clever ways to keep promoting themselves and their music, like this video proves his point, everyone is watching this now and he\u2019s getting coverage. Even with his tik tok accounts. It\u2019s what works in this day and time with social media,\u201d they wrote<\/a>. Another added<\/a>, \u201clooks like a part of performance to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter his BRITs<\/a> performance, Sombr\u2019s representatives confirmed to Variety<\/a> that the incident was indeed staged and part of the show. Billboard has reached out to his reps for further comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tBRIT Awards<\/a> host Jack Whitehall also chimed in on the incident following the performance. \u201cSuch a shame we didn\u2019t have the security ready,\u201d the comedian and actor said.<\/p>\n

\n\tSombr, a New York City native, was nominated<\/a> at this year\u2019s BRIT Awards for international artist of the year. He was also nominated for international song of the year for \u201cUndressed.\u201d He lost in both categories to Rosal\u00eda, and Ros\u00e9 and Bruno Mars for \u201cAPT.,\u201d respectively.<\/p>\n
