Jason Leblond was elected for a three-year term helming the Beef Farmers of Ontario<\/p>\n
A cattle farmer from Powassan, south of North Bay, has been named president of the Beef Farmers of Ontario<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jason Leblond was elected into the top spot during the organization\u2019s 64th annual general meeting, held Feb. 18-19 in Toronto. Don Badour, a cattle farmer from Lanark County, was elected as vice-president.<\/p>\n Leblond succeeds Craig McLaughlin who served the maximum term of nine years with the association.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to serve as president of the Beef Farmers of Ontario, which is a responsibility that I don\u2019t take lightly. I\u2019m proud to be part of an association with such strong leadership and engaged members, and I look forward to working hard on their behalf in the year ahead,\u201d Leblond said in a Feb. 20 news release.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have important advocacy work ahead of us to help create a business environment that supports Ontario beef farmers, particularly as we seek a provincial guarantee under our Beef Breeder Loan Program.\u201d<\/p>\n A certified engineering technologist by training, Leblond and his family have operated a 35-head commercial grass-fed cow-calf operation since 2006.<\/p>\n Leblond has been involved in a number of agricultural organizations, including the East Nipissing \u2013 Parry Sound Ontario Federation of Agriculture<\/a> and the Muskoka\/Parry Sound\/Nipissing Beef Farmers.<\/p>\n
